Baby? He's got to be kidding!

Clip to ScrapBook #1

My husband works out of the country for two months at a time. We were texting back and forth last night when I told him that my 9 and 11 year old son told me that they want another brother or sister. I told my husband in an isn't this funny.... kind of way. All of a sudden he jumped on the band wagon with my kids. (I'll be 47 tomorow, and he's 48) At first I thought he was b.s.-ing me, but he swore he wasn't. I got fixed after my last child, but he said that we could reverse it, and that a friend of his who is 56 just had a baby. (Well good for him.) After an hour of back an forth I told him I was singing off for the night. I didn't want to think about it anymore. I think he took it personally that I told him no way! My daughter is 18, and my boys will turn 10 and 12 in May. I told him, I'll be happy to be a grandma later on, and that we can love on the babies and send them home! He sent me an email this morning again saying that he wasn't kidding. Geeesh....midlife crisis?

I think he's just missing you and the kids. He'll change his tune when he gets home to reality!!! I'm a little younger than you and I can tell you that keeping the grandkids for the weekend does me in!! I'm beat!

If he doesn't get over it, I'll send my grands to your house for the weekend. The 6 AM wake up call on Saturday and Sunday will cure him!

Aww. That's so sweet! Just remind him how much college costs and how old he'd be when the new addition finally left the nest. That should set his head back on straight.

I got fixed too. At 35 I just didn't want the stress of being over that age and prego. My youngest is about to be one and can you believe that I am thinking that it would be great to have a boy. I will get over it though because who can affort a whole bunch of kids on what we make these days.

I agree with the sports car advise.

holy crap, I'm 32 and have a 9 month old. I could NOT see doing this in another 16 years. That's insane!

I'm totally on your side.

My dh and I were laughing about that today. (Our babies will be 22 and 20 this year and I'm 46.) There was an ad on the radio looking for women to be egg donors and you had to be between 18 and 30. I told him my eggs were obviously expired by now so there would be no more babies in our house.

Just tell him your eggs are expired. (I think it's sweet that he's missing his family, though.)

I'm looking forward to enjoying grandbabies (down the road; way down the road)!

Try reminding him of the science and social studies projects, the Little League games, music lessons, band, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts, Soccer........just making the list right here takes care of it for me!

Wow! If my dh said that to me (and my kids are younger, and so am I), I think I might smack him (ala Lynnette on the first season of Desperate Housewives). Of course, I'd have to physically be in the same place as him. You'll have to wait a bit until he gets the slap...

He's gone for 8 months of the year. I'd be the one curled up in a fetal position bawling. No thanks. I like the sports car idea. We've never had one!
