Has anyone read Comprehension Connections? A 3rd grade teacher told me it would be perfect for me to read to help me get ready for my move from 5th to 3rd. What do you think? Are there any other books that would be particularly good for me. I've read tons and tons of books but all for 4th/5th and up grades.

Comprehension Connections is FABULOUS!!! Not only do I use almost all of the ideas she includes in her book, but I have now started applying her approach to teaching in my own lessons as well. She introduces the comprehension skills through objects, songs, artwork, wordless books, etc. before having kids apply them to their reading. This is engaging and memorable, plus it is less threatening for struggling readers. I highly recommend it for anyone grades 2-6, but have found it to work really well in third. Good luck!

Thanks for giving me your opinion of the book. Now that I've heard it from the other teacher and from you, I think it's just the book I need to get. Do you have any others you'd recommend?

I haven't read this book yet, but after reading the comments on Amazon, I am going to order it. Sounds like a great teaching tool.
