There are so many places that I want to visit, but I hate to fly! I always have to get a prescription to get through it. Anyone else?

I definitely don't like it, but I haven't needed any medication. My mom is so afraid that she will drive ridiculous distances rather than fly, even when flying is cheaper. When I was a kid it was a norm to drive 12 to up to 24 hours to get to our vacation spots! I will NEVER voluntarily do that again!

I definitely don't like it, but I do it because it's the fastest way to get somewhere. Take-off stresses me out most of all, but I've learned to pray through it and read a magazine. When it gets bumpy, I pretend like I'm in a bus on a bumpy road. The more I've flown, the better I am with it, so there's that to look forward to.

I don't like flying either. It takes forever for my ears to go back to normal...several days. After flying, I spend several days with basically fluid or something in my ear. It feels like I am underwater. I hate the fact that a fun trip could be ruined because I don't feel well!

I have to take meclizine for motion sickness and ear issues. Iím claustrophobic, so I get squirrelly if the flight is very long. I prefer flying if Iím vacationing by myself.

Flying is awful. I just donít like being in such a tight, cramped space. Although Iíve lost a significant amount of weight, those seats are still way too close together and way to small!

I don't fly. I used to, but I was always nervous. Then I had a bad experience and decided I was done. That was way back in 1978, and I haven't flown since. Luckily, we love long road trips, cruises, and train travel, so we can go pretty much anywhere we want to go. Heading to Oregon next month... Panama Canal cruise, then Amtrak to Portland. Trip home will be rental cars and Amtrak combo. Looking forward to it... one more new DGD due in mid-April near Portland. Good thing we're retired and have all the time in the world!

I dislike flying, but I HATE the pre-flying stuff; security, getting to the airport, hanging around the airport waiting for my flight, etc.

And I get squirrely on the plane so I dislike long flights. We grew up driving everywhere so Iím more used to doing that.

It didn't bother me at all in my 20's, but I dislike it now due to anxiety. On the other hand, I hate long car trips more.

I would say I hate flying, but I don't need medication and I'm not terrified or incredibly anxious or anything. I also hate all the crap that goes along with flying- the details, airports, packing, etc. etc. I am somewhat anxious, but not overly so (and I seem to get less anxious the more I do it).

Every time I fly and we are taking off, I constantly think about the beginning scenes from "Final Destination" and I can't help it I try really hard not to, but it always runs through my head. Stupid movie! That's not something I want to put out there!

Once, early in our marriage, someone asked dh on a plane if he liked flying (he loves it). His response? "I did... until I met my wife."

I like some parts, but dislike others. I fly about once a year. I find the whole experience somewhat exciting....like an "adventure awaits" attitude. I love looking out the window. And I love stepping off in a whole new place.

My biggest complaint is the airplane seats give me a very sore tailbone! I really don't think I could fly for more than 4-5 hours because I am SO uncomfortable. I don't get this way in other chairs, so I have no idea what it is about the airplane seats that trigger this terrible pain.

I also dislike landing - the loud sounds and bumps and feeling like we're not going to be able to stop.

The germophobe in me hates the whole experience.

But overall I enjoy it!

I don't enjoy it, but am able to tolerate it.

The airlines have made it so unpleasant by squeezing the seats closer and closer together. I feel antsy just thinking about it.

I'm not afraid of it, but it is not the most pleasant experience either for several of the reasons already mentioned. I do it 2-3 times a year. Just got back late Saturday and was pretty tired yesterday. Middle seat both flights . 2 flights and then a 2 hour drive home so 10.5 hours from getting to 1st airport to home long day.

I've never done more than about a 5 hour flight at once. Not sure I could stand something much longer.

I hate turbulence! I definitely get scared if it gets bad. But one thing that really helps is to look around at the flight attendants...even in heavy turbulence they will be chatting and laughing with each other. So, I figure they know if they need to be worried and obviously they aren't!

I just flew home last night and it got so bumpy that the flight attendants had to sit down and stop the beverage service. But I was near the back of the plane and I could hear them back there...one of them was telling the others about her kitchen remodel! So, clearly no cause of alarm even though I was freaking out.

I take some Benadryl and knit and do easy puzzles. I want to see places- so I make myself fly.

About the ears/air pressure-> an ENT told me about earplanes - you can buy them at Walgreens. They are mostly for the plane descent and equalize the pressure. They have helped me.

I am a fearful flyer and travel quite a bit. I got a prescription for Xanax three or four years ago, and it helps tremendously.

airports, and always meet cool people on flights.

I do hate making the decisions as to when to go, which airline to take, which airport to land at (LAX or John Wayne), whether to combine trips out west, etc.

Once, I was on a coast-to-coast flight where the movie (back in the day, when there was only one movie per flight) was about a plane crash. Yeah, that was brilliant.

I've never had an issue flying. I feel like I will now because my chemo and radiation will set off the metal detectors.

I've flown a few times and I don't care for it either, but never needed meds so far.

If I could get anywhere in the world WITHOUT flying, that would be great with me!

I HATE to fly and I live on an island and have to fly to get anywhere. I never thought of medication, I just make sure I tell everyone I love them and make sure to kiss my kids before I leave. I also make sure my ďwhen I dieĒ file is up to date and try to make my peace with my death.

I also try to read or meditate on the plane. The family myth is no one in our family has died before they finished reading their current book, so I also make sure to be in the middle of a long book when I fly.
