I'm trying to get back into weight watchers, and I'm just SICK of Smart One's for lunch! Are there any of you that are on Weight Watchers that have an alternative for a bagged lunch? Or what do you all bring to eat for lunch at school?? Thanks for any ideas!
Sometimes I do the smart ones or other frozen dinner things. I also do a can of soup, its quick and easy. What about a wrap with some lean meat and lettuce, tomato, mustard. I take one of these or leftovers..
I try to make enough for dinner so I have leftovers for lunch. If not, I make pasta with tomatoes, basil and drizzle with olive oil.
Also, have you tried the Healthy Choice Steamers? They are a great stand by.
When I did weight watchers I made all my own meals for the week at home. I went out and bought the plastic trays. Yes they were an investment but figured I spent no more on those than a weeks worth of smart ones.
Then on Sunday night I fixed my lunches for the week. I made a hot tray and a cold tray. I calculated the points so each tray was about the same. THe cold tray was always "free". It had sugar free jello and salad in it.
It is so much easier to make a chicken breast, top it with onion and cheese on Sunday night so it is ready to go than it is to try to throw something together when I am already late!
Oh these are SOOO good!! You microwave them right in the bag (and there are varieties that have a cheese sauce...which has NO saturated fat!!), and they're ready! There are 3 servings in the bag, but at 45 calories per serving, I eat the entire thing. No fat, low calories, and it's very filling! OH, and DELICIOUS! I highly recommend the broccoli and cheese!
Once in awhile I'll make instant oatmeal at school, then stir in a container of yogurt. It's quick and healthy. I also like a salad and a Fiber One bar (oats and caramel is my favorite). I'll also do a Whole Grains Lean Pocket for lunch.
I take Lean Cuisine paninis because they don't feel like a frozen meal! I also like to take yogurt, apples and peanut butter, celery and Laughing Cow cheese, and Triscuits (some combination of those, not all of them at the same time!) I also buy salad fixings and chop everything up over the weekend, so I can quickly toss it together in the morning if I want a salad. That way I can use it for lunch or add a quick salad to dinner during the week. I HATE chopping, so unless I get it done early, I won't take it for lunch. Soup is another easy one to toss in the sack and go. I also like the Green Giant frozen veggies that come in little microwavable bowls. They are in one-serving sizes, so they are great for adding to a couple strips of frozen chicken or with yogurt and some fruit.
There is a good kind of wrap called Flat Outs. You can put lunch meat or tuna in them, and they are easy and delicious. I usually do that or a microwave meal with an apple and veggies. I also pack a mid morning snack (a south beach bar or piece of string cheese) to keep me going so that I avoid all of those teacher's lounge treats!
Progresso has soups that are WW 1 and 0 points depending on the flavor, just be warned that is only for half of the can. Also, you can get a baked potato and the green gian for one broccoli/cheese. It is very little points
I bring soup sometimes. The 100 calorie one from Progresso.
Normally, and what I haven't gotten sick of yet (which is good and I hope don't get sick of!) I have lettuce and chicken on top, with croutons. So I know that it's not extremely healthy because of the croutons, but I so look forward to my salad and really it's got to be better than other stuff I could bring.
Very seldomly I bring a sandwich; either PB & J or some kind of luncheon meat. I did just find out that salami is not good for you so scratch that meat!
And then once in a while I'll bring a smart ones or lean cuisine, but then that's worrying about waiting 6 and a half minutes for it to cook
I am not on any kind of diet or trying to lose weight, but I do love healthy foods! Here are some ideas of things I bring for lunch (usually leftovers):
-stir fry with lots of veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, squash, mushrooms, sugar snap peas, zucchini) with tofu over brown rice
-quinoa with black beans, corn, and sauteed veggies
-chili (black and kidney beans, bell peppers, onion, tomatoes)
-ratatouille with chickpeas, eggplant, zucchini, mushrooms, tomatoes
If I don't have leftovers, I might pack a black bean burger on a whole wheat english muffin with spinach and tomato or make a hummus and veggie sandwich on whole wheat bread or in a pita.
I usually bring apples, carrots and hummus, baked sweet potatoes, or Greek yogurt with Kashi cereal as a snack for the morning and afternoon.
Not on WW but I take a salad every single day. I put a bunch of lettuce in a large plastic bowl and add other chopped vegetables, an ounce of protein and I take about a tablespoon of salad dressing in a separate container.
I always keep a few frozen dinners in our staff room freezer for emergencies (nobody steals, I'm lucky). My favorites are the Lean Cuisine panini or pizza.
I take salads that I prep the night before- I like to add garbanzo and kidney beans, beets, and soy nuts for a little crunch.
I love wraps! I make a low cal spicy chicken salad that I roll in a flavored tortilla with chipotle flavored sour cream. I'll add leaf lettuce or tomatoes if I have time.
For sides I usually have (not at all once, of course) cheese sticks, yogurt, fresh cut veggies w/ hummus, crackers, and once in a while I have Tostitos multigrain chips... those are soooooo good.
Lunch? You mean you have time for lunch? Ha! I take something quick that I can grab and eat...english muffin sandwiches are yummy and low in points...even better heated or toasted!
The line for the microwave is too long for me to wait. Therefore, I usually alternate days with a salad and a turkey sandwich. I always make sure I have chicken in the salad with mixed greens and even a few almonds. Then it holds me all day. Good protein! With the sandwich, I use WW bread and weigh the turkey to make sure it is the right amount. I bring lettuce and tomatoes in a separate baggie. I find the sandwich holds me all day too.
I do keep Dannon Light and Fit yogurts in the fridge at school to grab when I need a snack. The 100 calorie packets of nuts are also good.
I usually take a Lean Cuisine pizza, but I'm going to start taking Marie Callendar's meals. Most of them are 350 calories, which is the same as the Lean Cuisine pizza, but it seems to satisfy me more.
I often bring dinner leftovers with me. It forces me to eat less at the dinner table because I know I can have more for lunch the next day. If we go out to eat I try to do the same thing and save half my dinner for lunch the next day. I also enjoy a few of the Lean Cuisene meals, like lasagna, pizza, etc.
