Clip to ScrapBook #1

Hi!

I'm familiar with "The First Six Weeks". I really like it and would like to use it in my class next year. Are there other resources that are a fairly quick read that would help me with my incoming talkative and behaviorally challenged first graders? I start school in 2 1/2 weeks, so if there is something I could read quickly or use as a reference to during the school year that would be helpful!

Jenn

PS - I loved reading this room over the last few days! you all have such great ideas!!! Thanks for sharing! I hope to do the same one day soon.

You should probably pick up The Morning Meeting Book. It is a great read for you to have done before the start of school and is a great companion to The First Six Weeks.

Then, I would say to get The Power of Our Words and Teaching Children to Care would be great resouces throughout the year.

Anyone else?

I agree with getting the Morning Meeting book and Teaching Children to Care. I am starting RC next year and got these books in addition to The First Six Weeks. The morning meeting book has info on how to conduct morning meetings which is a great time to be proactive about creating a great classroom environment. TCC is a HUGE book but it is awesome! It has a section about children that need more behavior strategies than the rest. I highly recommend getting both. I have not read Power of Words but will do that next summer along with more RC books.
