Our school board is making me crazy! They keep telling the public that "our teachers are ready." That their child will still have a rewarding school year, and they will enjoy all the same things they always do. What the heck?!? I feel like I have no idea what I am doing. It is really misleading to parents, and puts even more pressure on us. SMH

Exactly! ‘Our teachers have been busy preparing and are excited to get back’. Not an exact quote, but the general idea. Meanwhile, there has been almost no contact with the teachers and we really have no idea what will be expected of us! We will have one week instead of 3 days of PD. I guess I’ll find out Monday.

I've been doing zoom visits with all of my incoming families. I've been very honest with the fact that I really have no idea how things are going to work with kindergartners. I tell them what I am hoping will happen, but I do not sugarcoat the fact that I think that distance learning is totally inappropriate for 5 year olds. I think parents need to hear and see the reality of what is going to happen, not the unicorns and rainbows that the higher ups are trying to show. It's going to be a sh!t show and they need to be prepared!

Yea, no they won't. I'll try my best. I'll do fun games in small groups and get to know you's. I'll teach them their letter sounds and try to teach them math virtually.

But they won't be able to play with the toys in my classroom, or talk face to face with their peers. Or hold hands while they run around the playground. Or share supplies. Or give hugs.

This is setting parent sup for false expectations. We'll try out best and teachers are working hard, but it's going to be an uphill battle the whole time for teachers, students, AND parents.
