Thanksgiving Meal 2021!

I'm thinking of maybe ordering a TG meal from BRIO Italian Grille this time. I don't always need the traditional TG foods. I do something different each year depending on what I feel like...usually 1 of these 3 things:

1 - Ordered from a restaurant. I've ordered from these in past TGs before OR maybe some from more than 1 place:

- Mimi's Cafe'
- Boston Market
- Lucille's Smokehouse BBQ
- ordered a fried turkey from some place around here, I forgot
- Panda Inn - yes, love Chinese food & can eat it anytime!
- Round Table Pizza - yes, love Chinese food & can eat it anytime!

2 - IF I even cook, I HAVE to have these dishes:

1) Must have my Mom's stuffing recipe if nothing else...no kind of StoveTop grocery brand stuff!

2) GOOD cranberry sauce - not necessarily homemade, but I like Trader Joe's brand in the glass jar.

(3) MAYBE my homemade potato salad or macaroni salad)
(4) MAYBE some lemon cream pie)

3 - Gone out of town &/or eaten at a restaurant, in which I've done these in the past, (but won't nowadays w/ COVID):

- One holiday (Christmas), we drove to Vegas & ate at the Bellagio buffet
- Went to this nice restaurant in my general area for their TG buffet dinner

Turkey itself really isn't that mandatory for me because I eat turkey year-round in some form...mostly ground turkey.

All the choices sound great.

I host TG and it is pretty traditional. I make the turkey and carbs (mashed potatoes, baked sweet potatoes, noodles, stuffing and rolls) and maybe cranberry sauce. Someone else brings pies, vegetables and I ask my mom to make “fluffy fruit cup”. I just eat the fluffy fruit cup and don’t really care about anything else 😂.

Then I refuse to cook again for a week.

In the last few years of my parent's lives (and precovid) we went to a restaurant because it was just easier on them for it to be a smaller, less time consuming celebration. My DH loved that because he doesn't like turkey and would always order steak.

I'm looking forward to going to DS's house this year and having the traditional dinner. I can eat turkey anytime!

I did the TG meal from Boston Market last year because I'd had cataract surgery a few days before and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it and also how popular it was. The place was packed!

TG meal

I always host TG and they all come because they spend Christmas with their in-laws, so I have always cooked except for one year when my DD and SIL got married the Saturday after TG, then we went to a local restaurant. Have to say I loved it, but my 2 boys did not! !

So last Wednesday, I was subbing and recess duty. A kid was chasing the ball and ran into me. I didn't see him coming until the last second and down I went! I landed on my wrists and broke my right hand wrist. Now I can' t cook like I always have as my dominant hand is my right, so I'm ordering a meal from a local restaurant or grocery store!

Honey Baked Ham

I have a hankering for Honey Baked Ham with scalloped potatoes and a green salad I'll make myself because I'm particular about the kind of lettuce I like. Maine doesn't have a store so I'll have to order it and have it delivered or drive to New Hampshire, 5 hours from here, to get one. Forget that. I'll order it soon. I haven't had any Honey Baked Ham since we moved up here from Georgia.

Let me know if you see a coupon or discount for it.

Thank you for your concern! I appreciate it. I see the orthopedic surgeon again on Wednesday and hopefully, he'll again say that I don't need surgery!

Sounds great guys!

Some years, you go all out, but others, you just want it simple and laid-back.

freckleface, so sorry. I hope there's good news soon!
