Interesting. This was a commercial showing before I was watching a YouTube vid. This is my first time hearing of this. The panties can hold 2 tampons' worth of liquid, it claims.

Have you or would you try this? I would on a free day at home just to see how well I think they work.

i *would* try them. (I'm a gambler!) i'd also try one of those Diva cups, but i'm in peri-men and hate to waste money when i don't know how much use i'd get out of those things.

i am a bit skeptical, tho, of the underwear. i'm guessing they feel bulky or moist down there....but i would try them if they weren't so expensive and i could get more use out of them...

I would wear them as extra protection but not alone. It just sounds unpleasant and messy.

It reminds me of:

A baby trying to walk around with a heavy wet diaper.

It also makes me recall learning about what women used before pads( early 1900s )-rags that were repeatedly used to line panties, washed out, hung on the clothesline, and used again...saved for "that time of the month."

I think I'll order a pair or two one day soon...one pair first due to the price. I'll wear them more as a back-up in addition to the tampon if I know I'll be gone/busy all day/night and/or won't have time to visit a restroom often. While sleeping would be good too. If I absolutely love them, I can always get more gradually.

Regarding the wet feeling, it's supposed to be a completely dry surface no matter if it's saturated, so it hopefully shouldn't feel like some icky, wet panties.

If I still had my uterus, I would try them. I would’ve switched to the Diva cup, too! If I had a daughter, I would encourage her to go both routes, too. It just seems healthier for women and the environment.

I have a few pairs and I really like them. It's not at all like wearing a diaper. For me, they are a back-up for peace of mind. Sometimes you can't go to the bathroom right away, especially as a teacher. It's also great at nighttime and so much more comfortable than a pad. Knowing that a leak is no big deal at work is great. You really do not feel any uncomfortable wetness, either, and all of the panties are lined with black fabric. I love the product and will be buying more.

I would like them as a backup, but the cost is too much

I can definitely see that they'd be better for the environment, and likely cheaper in the long run depending on how long they last (over continuously buying tampons/pads). I looked at some of the reviews and the women who wear only the thinx were saying that they have to change them during the work day. They put them in diaper bags.

Maybe this seems more "normal" to women with children (and therefore use diaper bags regularly) but I can't get past that part. No way would I want to navigate changing my underwear at work and then carrying around bloody underwear in a diaper bag! I also feel like even if they truly didn't leak, I'd be worried about it all day and end up feeling uncomfortable all day long. I could maybe see wearing them overnight, but I couldn't justify the expense just to use them for that.

I have extremely heavy, messy periods for about 2 days per month. I go through a tampon within an hour. I would also wear a pad, but would still ruin my clohtes. It was esp. bad at night. I started to wear Depends on those days. I still wear the tampon but now I have extra protection. I no longer need to worry about ruining sheets, or my pants.

Haley23, I thought about that because one pair still won't last the whole day. Well, I may not mind actually changing underwear and putting the soiled one in a good (maybe double-bagged) ziplock bag to put in my purse until I can throw it in the car later.

Wearing skirts/dresses on the heaviest days would be a heck of a lot easier to change the underwear when out and about as opposed to wearing pants.

I have read rave reviews about the Thinx. I want to get my 7th grade dd some just for extra protection and bed time. Even though she's a serious athlete she still has a really heavy flow (?) and has ruined pants and sheets. I'm saving to order her a few pairs.
