These stupid a$$ ELN videos

I donít know if anyone else has to watch these training videos but we do. And we get the pleasure of watching them in our own time. And my AP is the only admin that actually holds us accountable (she wonít let us check out without the certificate of completion turned in). Since downtown stopped caring the other admins stopped caring.

Now, on top of getting to do those videos, I have 14 of them to do for summer school.

Iím so over this. And summer school is turning into a bigger pain than itís worth, especially since I donít think itís going to turn into a full time job for me.

Ok, rant over. Back to the videos (which are muted while I watch tv ).

Yes, in my previous district we had to watch them in our own time too- sexual harassment, OSHA, etc. I just let them play. And, yes we had to have the certificate also. Ugh!

We have to watch about 4 hours of videos in August every year. Literally the same videos every year. Some people sit together at school and watch them, but I always run them while I do other stuff on my computer. So dumb.

Me too! I refuse to waste my time watching the same videos year after year, especially since the information is a no-brainer. "Should you wear gloves when dealing with blood?" Yeah.

Ours have an option where you can just click "take test"- I think maybe it's on the left side? Does yours have that? I haven't watched one in years! I always just take the test. We also are expected to do these on our own time

Same. Around here they cant make us watch them on our own time either. Our union said its against contract to make it mandatory if its not listed in our contract unless they paid us our hourly wage. Some of your unions need to to step up folks .

We normally have a strong union but they totally fell down on this one.

Even worse most of the buildings have actually just forgotten about them, except my anal retentive, type A AP, whoís too worried about looking good downtown. . I just talked to someone who said she hasnít done them in 3 years.

I'm in a right to work state with an "association" that doesn't have much power . They have some ridiculous bargaining structure where each side can only bring up a couple of issues. Since obviously one of them is always compensation, there isn't much else that can be done. We also have unpaid staff meetings (which are often actually used as PD, which drives me nuts) and are required to participate on committees that meet before/after school for free. Little videos are really the least of our concerns.

My district requires the videos over the summer but give us a day off at the beginning of preplanning if you are done by a certain date. If you haven['t completed by that date you have to report a day earlier than the people who finished.

This type of information used to be covered n faculty meetings, but now it is on us. The shorter ones could be done in school, but most are too long for a lunch or prep. Ours were from a company called Safe Schools. The same ones every year. I learned we could skip to the quiz at the end, pass it, and then mute it while doing something else. I also learned you could fast forward to a certain point and skip a lot. I was able to do a marathon of them and knock them out in one day, but what a waste of time.

They're so boring and awful, and no, you can't skip. I've fast forwarded before and gotten a "you missed too many minutes of this video" message and had to rewatch. Since any moron could answer those questions, I mostly do something else while it plays in the background, then I just take the quiz.
