I love that my DH can do most of the things we need done at home by himself.

However, I also dislike that most of the stuff can be done by DH!

We made a deal this summer since he has to work more hours with his new job. If I helped with some of the "man" chores we would be able to do fun stuff on his days off.

Yesterday I mowed the lawn (such a PITA due to the hill!) and took the trash to the transfer station. That was in addition to cleaning the house, cooking dinner and getting caught up on laundry.

So today? He is fixing the storm door on the front of the house and then we are power washing/staining the deck....

Oh, and we are using a paintbrush to stain the deck since the special stain pad "cost way too much!"

Just want to add: this is meant as a harmless vent, please don't jump on me! I love DH and love everything he does for me.

Maybe he needs a gentle reminder of the deal you made. Tell him at a certain time you are done with chores and the fun stuff begins. Plan a dinner out or an activity you like for next weekend. My DH will often get so wrapped up in his to do list that we have to give ourselves a cut-off time when chores are done for the day or weekend and we can relax or go out and do fun things.

choppie, for me it would be fun to accomplish all that. At least you’re working together today.

Let him know you want to do X, or you have made plans for X, then tell him what time. I,know I can get so involved in a project that I lose track of time.

Your family is accomplishing a lot!
It is so nice when families can all work together to get things done!

My job in the next week is to power wash and apply waterproofing to our deck! I've done it solo before, so at least I know it will be an easy project for me! (I'm skipping the stain, so I don't have to be overly careful about the clear waterproofing! )

Having fun together is important

Maybe choose something to do together and put it on the calendar so the time does not get absorbed by a home task. There is always something to do in a home. Always. You just have to take a break once in a while. Good luck.

Your husband does sound like a keeper.

Man chores? In this day and age I don't think there are man chores or women chores.
