Talking behind my back

Just walked into work. As I walked through the office I heard one of my grade level team talking about me behind my back. Who is she talking about me to? Oh ya know the P and the speech therapist who then add their comments.

Great way to start the day.

Seriously if you have a question for me or feel like I am taking to long to get data to you just ask. You donít have to bash me to admin.

I want to go home. Is this week over yet?

Thatís mean! Sheís shown her true colors. The other two were so unprofessional.

Once, my friend overheard a grade level colleague complaining about me in the principalís office. The principal agreed with me! I shrugged it off and knew that the teacher made herself look bad.

Itís a busy and difficult week. Try not to let this bother you too much; enjoy your class. Soon youíll be on vacation.

I hate when a school has a competitive rather than a collegial atmosphere. You're absolutely right, if the other teacher or the speech therapist had anything to say about you, they should have said it to you. And, the principal should not have continued the discussion.

If it bothered me enough, i would go to the grade level member and call her out on it. Remind her that if she has a problem with you, you would appreciate it if she directed her comments to you first.

I'd have walked to them and said, "I heard my name. What's up?"

If It Were Me...

I would have stood in the doorway and said, "If the three of you have something to say about me, I would appreciate it if you would speak to me about it individually."

Then I would have turned around and walked out. Hopefully, their conscious would bother them enough to apologize at a later time.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. It takes guts, but oh, so worth it!

I’m sorry you had to deal with that. It’s a crappy feeling

It Happened to me last year. Two teachers were mocking me. I walked up and said “yep that’s exactly what I said”. The looks on their faces and the texts I received after (claiming they were not talking about me) were priceless and worth saying something

nyteacher, Iím impressed that you thought so quickly and responded perfectly! I can never think of comebacks in the moment.

Itís interesting that we expect better behavior from teachers, but itís like any other workplace. Sometimes, as friends have pointed out to me, itís like being in high school again!
