Last Weekend of 2019 - What are You Doing?!

Can you believe we've arrived at the LAST weekend of 2019 already?! Fortunately, I have today completely free, which is rare and Sun is very minimal with work.

I'm wracking my brain now on where to go. The school kids' Christmas break isn't over plus it's a Sat, so it still will be pretty crowded all over. I really don't know, but I'm not staying at home! I wish there were more museums around here...I've pretty much sought all the ones out that I like.

Sun, I may go to brunch at this Mexican place we like.

Iím sure this will sound boring, but Iíll exercising a lot this weekend. Long walks + weights. Iíve done way too much socializing and happy eatingóand my scale reflects it. Our next rain is forecast for Monday, so I need to be a vigilant walker this weekend.

Yes, itís the last weekend of 2019 and I am ready for this year to end.

Iím hoping to spend the weekend doing things to keep my mind off the fact that my DS just had another seizure. Heís been having them for over a year and is on anti-seizure meds. He and his family are on a trip for my DGD's third birthday. I wonít relax until they are back in town.

I hope everyone has a beautiful last 2019 weekend. Spend it with family, enjoy the outside or maybe, binge watch something interesting.

We were supposed to have Christmas with my DH family today but that was cancelled with no reason given. Very baffling.

So, I find myself at lose ends. The week between Christmas and New Year's is one of my least favorite times. It's gray and drippy here, and there aren't anymore fun activities advertised. If I had known there was no family gathering, we would have traveled to see some friends who just moved. At least there's church tomorrow.

After Christmas

DD1, her fiancť and MIL all left early this morning.

I plan to get my house back in order, strip beds, etc., and enjoy the peace and quiet. Christmas decorations come down next week.

MIL is fond of throwing out passive-aggressive barbs, and keeping my mouth shut has been hard. DH is hard of hearing and she is careful when she throws these barbs, so he doesnít hear them. Poor DH got an earful from me after their departures, but she aimed a few at our special needs adult daughter that really lit me off. She is old, suffering from osteoporosis, and alone, and I try to keep this in mind. But it doesnít excuse her blatant rudeness. And, oh yes, she is very much aware of the impact her statements make.

Didnít mean to make this into a vent, but this is a safe place and I must have needed the outlet.

This morning I am making a nice pot of beef stew with Caribbean flavors. GF is coming over after lunch to help me stack a ton of wood pellets in my garage. Then we will take a nice walk. I am lector at Mass tonight.

No special plans for tomorrow except routine housecleaning. I have some reading to do, and a knitting project to work on. Weather should be nice enough for a walk...

Just a pleasant low key weekend...

We're heading back to my parents' house to celebrate my sister's birthday. I need to venture out to get a gift before. Tomorrow will be church. I don't really plan to do anything else except relax and maybe play some games with my kids.

Kins of a quiet weekend. We had dinner out with friends and then back to home of one for a song circle. I'm just a listener, but the other 4 are good folk musicians.

Today I went to Pilates class and I will go through more of my deceased mother's papers.

Tomorrow is church. My DH is preaching. He's not a pastor, but our pastor needs a break after 4 services on Christmas Eve.

Took a morning spin class at the gym from a substitute instructor who had left the gym when she had her second child. Good to see her today and catch up!

Stopped at the library and surprisingly, they had the new Ellin Hillebrand book. Didn't expect to find it, so I may be spending the afternoon reading it. It was on my list but I didn't get it, so it worked out.

Maybe your family could go for a hike if the weather is good or ice skating? There are also some good movies out you might enjoy. Have fun and happy new year.

We just went for a looong beach walk along the Atlantic. After lunch, we are checking out a friends new condo. Making vegan curry tofu noodles for dinner. Would love to finish my book club book too. It is actually 50+ degrees here in RI today so we need to take advantage of outside activities while we can! I need to wash my car too...

I am sick on the couch with a bad head cold/ fever I started with Thursday night. DD and her BF leave for the airport in an hour, but I am not up for the ride nor do I want them breathing in my germs in the car for 2 hours.

I go back Thursday, so I do need to get some stuff corrected and ready at some point.

We just got in from out of town Christmas. I think today and tomorrow I will:
Unpack and do laundry
Do some cooking/prep to freeze for January meals
Paint the front door and trim if the rain stays away
Replace some of our very mutilated, torn up blinds

Not much going on here. I slept late, and DH played CoD with his buddies online. Right now we are sitting on the TV room watching NCIS New Orleans.

I'm doing laundry as well, and I do need to organize my bathroom cabinet. It's had a lot of stuff just shoved in there lately.

My main task today is trying out my new multi-focal contacts. So far, they are great.

Tomorrow DH and I are greeters at church. After that, we will go to my Mom's house for lunch.

Came back home yesterday after a week at my parents house. My dad came back with me and kids. Kids just left to be with their dad for his week of Christmas vacation.

My dad and I plan to:
-install blinds for back door window (done)
-install hardware on all cabinets and drawers in house (in progress)
-build and install shelves in closet
-put away Christmas (already all packed, just put in attic)
-hang lights on patio
-install curtain rods and hang curtains

And... maybe build and install a shelf for my laundry room.

Lots to do!

It is a recoup and recovery weekend! Very low key. We are expecting a major winter storm with the possibility of up to 12-18 of snow. I made a run to the grocery yesterday and we are hunkered down and ready to watch the snow. I did some laundry and general cleaning this morning and plan to set up the new iPads I received for my classroom this afternoon. If I'm up to it I might do some lesson planning and my report card comments since they are due when we return to school. DH and DSs will head out to the shop and find something to keep themselves busy - a 2 day storm is going to drive them stir-crazy.

Oh heck, I'm just getting used to saying 2019!
This evening we are going next door to our wonderful neighbors for dinner. Tomorrow morning our niece and her DH from Minnesota will join us for a few days. They spent a couple of days with friends in another part of the Valley. We plan to show them the sights and go to a comedy club. On Tuesday we will take them to the airport and hop on the freeway to celebrate with friends in the Palm Springs/Indio California area.

Since we have not be on any trips most of last year, and I am now working again with time off school, we went to Ann Arbor Michigan to a jazz club last night. Are walking around the shops downtown today, and are going to
A comedy show and another performance at the jazz club later. We will go
Home tomorrow then early Monday head to northern Michigan to visit my husbandís half sister. We will be back early Tuesday evening in time for a New Yearís Eve celebration at a restaurant. After that, things will be quiet until school starts again on the 6th.

We are getting new flooring put down. The workers are almost finished and I love my new floors. We pulled up the carpet in our great room, closets, laundry room, and hallways. We picked out new furniture that will be here next week. So, we will be putting our things back in place minus the couch we took to the dump. We are turning one bedroom into a tv room. I am so excited because we will be shopping for accessories soon. This was our anniversary and Christmas gift to ourselves.

I am going to be snowed in. It has been snowing all day, but in town travel is still okay. More snow and winds picking up to create blizzard conditions this evening through Monday afternoon. A foot of snow is predicted. Glad that my family does not have to travel this weekend.

I will make sure to do a double water workout each morning. Today Iím reading and doing laundry. Iím gong to make a spaghetti squash pie for dinner.

After my workout tomorrow Iím going to go wine tasting in Napa with some friends.

I will also make some headway on finishing the purging of my home office. I retired in June and I just about have all of the school stuff gone. I want to make it a nice and relaxing place for my hobbies and guests. My goal is to be done with that before New Yearís Day.

With the flu that turned into a sinus infection. Thank God we were out of school or I would have missed a bunch of days.

Hoping to be better by New Years so I can go out and I need to work in my classroom too!

I overdid it preparing for Christmas so I've barely raised my pulse since then, and I'm o.k. with it.

Today I changed the sheets, folded and put away a mountain of laundry, and did a lot of unnecessary stuff with my Happy Planner.

I picked up a few things at 50% off. Had the car serviced. Sat in the sun and spoke to a friend for an hour. Had a glass of wine midday.

Started a game of Monopoly with my granddaughter, watched her a few hours this afternoon.

Was planning to kick up my heels tonight but am already in bed. Fatigue City here.

Tomorrow maybe some gardening if the weather holds.

Looking forward to celebrating New Years Eve at a dance

I'm enjoying the quiet. It's been a very busy year...full of extreme ups and downs and I am so thankful to have a weekend that is slow, boring and low-key. The weather outside is gray and rainy and I am spending my time creating things on my Cricut Maker and reflecting upon the year. I am amazed at where my life is this year....ten years ago everything was so different. I would have never imagined my life story would be where it is today...both good and bad. Enjoy each decade friends, appreciate the people in your life today and don't take anything for granted.

Nice guys! For those sick or not having a rough time, I hope that turns around ASAP! For those who are usually ripping and running who only really slow down when you're ill, try to relax more for 2020!

Today, pretty leisurely, except for a little work.

Yesterday, had decided to go to one of my favorite shopping malls (about an hr away when traffic's good) where I had to do a few exchanges and they have 2 used DVD stores in there where I can be for HOURS. Then, had a nice dinner.

Was also going to the movies to see Ford vs. Ferrari, but got back too late...will probably go today. I go to the movies quite often. I see 3-5 movies/mo.

I tell you, if $ was no object, I'd never wrack my brain wondering where to go. I'd be going all over the place for tons of day trips, weekend getaways, and travel the bigger 1-2 wk trips about 3-5+ times a yr.
