Yay! MA +30 Completed

Clip to ScrapBook #1

My wife and I just finished an online class that got us each to the MA +30 level! The course showed up in our districtís online transcript today and we were able to get the applications in the mail prior to the end of month deadline so the pay bump should show up in Januaryís pay. We only paid for one course and my wife might submit that for reimbursement.

Unfortunately, since we are both at the top of the scale this is pretty much the last thing we can do to max our pay before retiring (~6 years for me, ~11 years for her).

Bonus: I am set for my next recertification and shouldnít have to take any more classes for the rest of my career.

Thanks klarabelle! Up until about two years ago credits would fall off after 10 years. About two years ago the school board changed that policy and I was able to count credits back to 2005. I figured I may as well go for it before they change their minds.

Congrats! I just finished classes to move up as well. My district also has a +60 option, but I'm going to need to take a break before I consider taking more classes. I was fine doing them in the summer, but I HATED working on them this fall when I was also teaching.

I know how you feel I just got that bump a couple years ago and boy did I need it. Feels good to get a little more financial appreciation huh

Congrats on being done as well

We have a +60 option here and that is my next stop. I just have to drudge up the energy and finances for for it

Retirement

It should make a difference in retirement, yes. It should be helpful now as it amounts to just shy of $6k a year (combined), but weíll see what the actual paycheck difference is.

+60 would be nice, but we donít have that and I donít know that Iíd make it. I took a bunch of 1 credit classes and a handful or 3 credits to get to the 30.
