My sister has taken this on as her ďresolutionĒ for the year. She was telling me how she organized some of her kitchen cupboards yesterday so that inspired me to clean out my basement and upstairs pantries. I wiped down the shelves and got rid of expired foods. The worst was a can of soup with an expiration of 2013. Not sure how that one managed to be there!

So now they look a bit leaner, but I donít feel compelled to stockpile like I have been known to in the past. Reallyó- I have no idea why I had 4 cans of cream of celery soup We only do major shopping about every 3-4 weeks at a big store with good prices and great variety, and then supplement with our local store (more expensive, but convenient). No more wasting so many food items!

Good for you! About 3 1/2 years ago we remodeled the kitchen and that was when I started only buying what I needed. No more stockpiles. One example is Diet Pepsi. I like one can at lunch. Thatís it. I donít care if itís on sale 4 cases for $10, Iíll pay more and just get one case. I donít want to store it and I donít want to drink more of it. In the long run, I feel I save more money buying only what I need and I throw less out.

I like to keep my pantry and freezer well stocked as well. And I need to straighten both. Thank you for the reminder. It is now one my list to do.

Cream of celery soup must have been on special! But it is good to keep on hand as it works with beef, chicken and pork recipes. Most people like the mushroom cream soup best, but not me. And I don't like to use cream of chicken with anything but chicken.

Good for you-- I know how good that feels. My husband and I have been decluttering and I agree it makes it's easier not to buy things to keep on hand. My kitchen is small and I have things in the pantry that take up a lot of space so some of our food containers get left on the counters or table. I plan to.go through those quickly, give some of it away, and not have that anymore.

My kitchen pantry is a DISASTER! We did eat/drink a bunch from it over the holidays, but it needs an overhaul. I think I'm going to have my retired DH build slide out shelves, so we can stop stuffing things in there and then not knowing what we have so we buy more!
