Sunday nights

I was working on a baby quilt after dinner tonight when I realized it was Sunday night. In the fall of 2017 I would not have attempted a project like this, let alone on a Sunday evening. Retirement with stress free Sundays are the best!

You are so right! Sunday evenings were the worst! Especially when my principals starting sending emails on Sunday and you really did need to look at them to be on top of Monday. Otherwise I would never have looked!

I just got home from dinner out with my husband. We are both retired and had a relaxed evening. No more thinking about the upcoming week and getting stressed out on Sundays. Retirement is glorious.

I can stay up late watching TV or reading. I also love Sunday afternoons. I can drive to festivals and other events a few hours away and not worry about plans, dinner, laundry or grading. No stress that the principal could walk in unannounced on Monday morning. Retirement rocks!

I couldn’t agree more! Weekends were always so full of must-do activities and chores, and on Sunday nights I always worried about what I’d forgotten and had trouble sleeping. This worry-free retirement life is wonderful—and I’m sleeping better than I have my whole life.

Sundays are wonderful and relaxing now. No more knot in the stomach on a Sunday night. Also, I have time to do all my errands and chores throughout the week. I love Sundays now!

Not only do I enjoy Sunday nights, I can also enjoy Sunday afternoons. My last couple of years before retirement, our school was open on the weekends. I would wait until Sunday afternoon about 3 pm, go by McDonalds for my supper and then work at school doing computer work and planning until 6 or 7. When I got home, I would work on the weekly progress reports and/or grade papers. How free I felt when I didn't have to give up my Sundays any more for school!!!!

The last few years I taught Sunday night was saved for the hours and hours it took to write the stupid lesson plans for the week. They needed so much detail and was so complex that it took me hours!
I don't miss that at all!

Every Sunday night I would be grading/recording math end of unit assessments, and new unit pre-tests. (Every skill had four questions and would have to be recorded). This really cut into my enjoyment of watching Downton Abbey!

I realized this when watching the new Downton Abbey movie- first time I've been able to watch the show without grading!

I can relax and watch football without worrying about dinner, laundry, grocery shopping, grading, or planning. Sundays have become my favorite day!
