I had to have oral surgery Friday to remove an implant. Yes, implants can go bad. I had a lot of bone loss and gum recession on it, so I had to have it removed and a bone graft done. So now I've spent thousands of dollars to have it put in and then have it taken out. Plus I'm very sore and swollen. And I will have a missing tooth! Just needed to whine a bit. It's possible I could have another one put in if the bone grows, but honestly I will probably not do it.

Thank you, Amiga, I am just having a little pity party for myself. I'm glad to get it over with and hopefully will feel better tomorrow!

That's terrible! Not only the pain and visits, but the $$!!

I'm in the midst of getting an implant, hadn't thought about it maybe needing to come out.

I hope you are doing better in time to chew and enjoy a delicious banquet on Thursday.

Oh man, that is a pain! (Pun intended) You have my sympathy. I posted earlier about my veneer issues. Iím now referring to this one tooth as my $1600.00 tooth - $800 for the veneer and $800 for the root canal, post and rebuilding.

I had an implant too. It was about 3 years ago and so far, no problems. Just wondering...how long did it take before the dentist said it had to come out?

LaFish, I had that implant put in about 5 years ago. Never had a problem till 6 months ago. I got an infection in the gum and had some bone loss. Even though the infection cleared up with treatment, I continued to have bone loss. So it had to come out and a bone graft put in to try to stop the other teeth from being affected. It is very discouraging to spend all that money and end up with no tooth. I am feeling better today at least!

I am so sorry annie_g. I know how expensive they are and I have heard of them having problems. Unexpected expenses are so stressful.
