Do you want me here or not?

An update on my last post.

My grievance I filed against HR lady was elevated to the highest level. Which includes me, her, the superintendent, my union rep, a few school board members, my attorney, the district attorney, and my doctor.

The meeting started out with the board and superintendent reading out all my accomplishments with the district, my test scores, etc. Basically thanking me for my service. Then the HR lady went on this long rant about how hard her job is, never once acknowledging ANYTHING I wrote in my 4 page (single-spaced) letter. Then it was my turn to say my peace. It was quite simple. I asked them what they wanted. Are they going to allow the HR lady to bully me (and other people) into coming back from their medical leaves early because she is too lazy to do onboarding for a long-term sub? Because if so, I'll pack my bags and leave. I have no attachment to this school or the county, I could easily get a job in a neighboring district. I am insured through DW's job, so leaving wouldn't affect my insurance.

I let my doctor speak about how I should have never come back to work at all. I should be at home, not working. Then I mentioned how lucky everyone was that my radiation made me constipated, instead of giving me diarrhea. Both side effects of radiation.

The district attorney seemed very squeamish, almost like he was worried that the district violated several laws or something over their treatment of me during my treatment (which according to my attorney, they did). It was obvious the superintendent had no interest in considering his DIL (HR lady) did anything wrong. If the meeting did not have board members in it, he probably would have told me to have a nice day and find a new job. The board members, however, were furious that this whole situation happened.

Long story short, I was told to pack my bags and not come back until I had a 100% clean bill of health from my doctors. The HR lady is no longer with us, and I have a feeling the board will not renew the superintendent's contract when it expires next year. It seems kind of pointless now since my last radiation is Tuesday () and then I have a 4 week recovery period. So I will come back after winter break ends anyway.

You did what was right and it took a lot of courage to do it! You got them to do the right thing, your nemesis is gone and will no longer trouble you, and many people who are in the same position as you later will be helped instead of bullied!
Thank you for your courage and fortitude!

Can you hear me cheering for you and your team?

Justice has been served, and that horrid HR person canít bully anyone anymore. Now please just focus on getting well. I agree that if 4 weeks doesnít feel like enough, get an extension. Iím very proud of you, and the board, for doing the right thing.

I hope you finish up your radiation trouble free and are on the road to recovery! I loved reading this! So often we read these stories and they do not have a satisfying ending. I am so glad you stuck up for yourself!

Iím so proud of you for standing up to a big bully! Actually, 2 big bullies. Often, we teachers have to be so polite, so careful in our responses to administrators, parents, even students. Your victory feels like a win for us all! You have saved other teachers from that mean, lazy woman.

Use up all of your recuperating time to rest at home. Your body needs and deserves that.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

See me??? Iím standing on my roof screaming ďhallelujah!Ē At the top of my lungs. I am so proud of your for taking this the distance. There are too many power hungry minions in the education system and you managed to rid us of one.

Congratulations. And may this help you heal a bit faster.

I'm so glad this worked out for you but I'm sorry you had to deal with this nonsense when you clearly have more important things to deal with. Best wishes to you.

Enjoy the Holidays with your DW & family.

I am so impressed by all you have done to get some justice here. It is outrageous that you had to worry about all this (and deal with the expense of a lawyer) while dealing with cancer and a major life changing surgery. Many people will benefit from you sticking up for yourself. Hugs and cheers for you!

I hope you are able to rest, relax, and continue to recover.

this is the best thing I have heard in a long time. The right side wins! the wrong side has consequences!

I was starting to lose faith that things like that are possible. Thank you for sharing your story and your triumph.

Not only did you do the scary, right thing for yourself, but you've saved other employees from mistreatment.

I expect the district's attorney advised the board that they have been exposed to potentially very expensive law suits and removing the HR person was the least they could do to cover themselves.

That would be a private consultation (board and lawyer) worth fly on the wall-ing.

Congratulations.
