Got to school this morning and was greeted by the therapy dog. She inched out into the hallway to see who was coming in the door and it was just wonderful to see her standing in the doorway waiting for a pat.

She stays in the counselor's office during the school day and a small number of students are brought to her. In the mornings the door is open for staff to say hello.

This is her first day back this school year. I believe she will be here one day per week. She is our counselor's personal pet.

I am jealous too. My last district had a therapy/comfort care dog. He lived with the nurse and her family. He was amazing and the kids loved him.

Photo Op

My DGD is in Pre-K. Thereís a therapy dog at her school as well. One of her teacherís behavior incentives is to earn enough ďcouponsĒ to have your picture made with the therapy dog. DGD was thrilled when she earned enough coupons for her photo op. She brought it home all nicely laminated and it is proudly displayed in the front entry of their home. She immediately said she was going to try for another. Her mom, my DD, asked her why she wanted another photo?
She said that both sets of grandparents would for sure want their own copy of her photo with the dog.

You are so very lucky to have this dog around.

When I worked, several teachers would occasionally bring in their dogs for a day. It was a great bonding experience for many. I brought mine to help some get over their fear of dogs.

The , new principal came and angrily banned all dogs from campus.

Such a sweet way to start the day!

At my old school, we have a therapy dog visit once a week. The teachers sign up for times to have the dog in their classrooms. Always a highlight! The students would cuddle the dog and read to her.

What a great way to start off your day. Your lucky your school has a therapy dog, they are wonderful to help with those in need of a quiet time or just for fun. Too bad all schools aren't required to have this great help.

Thatís awesome! That would 100% make my day

When I was a teenager I used to visit a family friend in the nursing home. We would bring my dog. The individuals loved it! It was amazing to see how many would take ďan extra bite of foodĒ or walk a little farther during PT/OT for the reward of coming to visit & pet my dog.
