I am thinking that the districts that start the earliest will be the ones to watch and learn from. Our district starts August 12th. Any earlier?

We start late August but our principal is convinced we'll still be virtual at that point. Time will tell.

We are the end of our August. Our principal said they are exploring a lot of options, considering they don't know what to expect. They want to be prepared.

We are on a modified calendar and usually start the last week of July! I am very curious as to what will happen.

IDK the exact date for next year but it's usually right around the 12th also. Teachers start with PD and work days earlier- some time in the first week of August. New teachers go back 5 days earlier.

The governor has said in several different addresses that we can't go back to school this year because by the time "they" trained teachers in "the new ways of teaching" there would be only a week of school left. I have no idea if there are actually specific plans there or he's just meaning whatever way schools figure out to socially distance.

My P says we will be receiving information "later rather than sooner." Sounds like they are hoping to reopen but also working on plans if that can't happen. She said the district is beginning to work on all sorts of scenarios- "if this happens, then ______." I totally get that they don't want to decide too soon and make the wrong decision- we don't really know what things will be like 3.5 months from now. But I'm a planner and it's driving me crazy!

I teach at a year-round school. Our new school year was supposed to start July 6, don't think it will happen.

August 3rd. We have PD the week before.

Haley23 - me too! I'm a planner and I'm like...figure it out guys! I know this is unchartered territory and they must have various scenarios. ugh.

Yep. I also wish our union would say something reassuring, like hey, we're not going to just let them lay off a bunch of people. Or this is what's likely happening with salaries. Something so that I quit playing out doomsday scenarios in my head. I guess they just don't really know what's going on either.
