How do you eat a cupcake?

Informal poll: How do you eat a cupcake?

1. conventional, normal bites (cupcake “as-is”)
2. Lick all the frosting off first then eat the cake
3. Make a cupcake “sandwich” (break off the stump part and put it in top so the frosting is in the middle)
4. Something totally different

I used to be a conventional cupcake eater but a good friend introduced me to the “sandwich” method. Now even if I try to eat a cupcake the “old” way, I end up switching to make it a sandwich.

So, how about you? No judging

Sandwich! But it gets tricky with filled cupcakes.

I don't know why but that made me ... I lick all the frosting off first and sometimes put more on if no one sees me do it! I love frosting.

Sometimes I throw the cupcake part out and eat another one (just the frosting) and everyone thinks I'm a pig! lol

I take off about 1/2 to 1/3 of the frosting then eat it like I would a piece of cake. Most frosting is so sugary and/or creamy that it upsets my stomach if I have a lot of it. It's awesome to chase it with some cold milk.

Wipe all the frosting off and give it away. Eat the cake.

My old school secretary disliked the cake and Would just eat the frosting. She used to call them “lick and toss”. Then she met me and we would share.

I turn it over and just eat the cake and leave the frosting in the paper. My students think I'm insane.

I do the upside down method like momteach. Eat the bottom first and then the the frosted top. Only homemade cupcakes though, commercial cupcakes have too much frosting.

eating cupcakes with swirls of frosting by doing #3.

So, I am retired but still volunteer at my old school twice a week. Every week I bring something I baked. Really? Really- grown ups are eating the frosting off the top and throwing the rest away???
OMG! You teach little kids, you're not a little kid!
I understand, a few are on low carb. diets and don't eat cake. But..
Anyway, now, I provide a few tiny cups with swirls of frosting and sometimes other things like sprinkles, caramel sauce, fudge sauce or toffee. I leave spoons and that has solve the problem.

AS for me, I don't eat cupcakes.

I don't like the frosting at all so I wipe it off with a napkin and eat the cake. Love that!

looks like i'm the only one (so far) that eats cupcakes this way:

bite off a smidgeon of frosting to eat with bigger bites of the cake bottom, leaving the majority of the frosting to eat in bites with the top.

Well...our son happens to love cupcakes and he thinks every cupcake on the planet belongs to him.

So, I either scarf it down in one huge gulp like a snake OR if I want to savor it, I hide in the bathtub for cupcake privacy.

This cupcake sandwich idea is ingenious!

Great!
Now I'm going to dream about cupcakes.
Dying to make some.
Thinking about making: devil's food cake + raspberry jam frosted with dark chocolate icing + raspberry jam + slivered almonds

Sandwich method or put it in a bowl, smash with a fork, and eat it all together. It tastes like a cake pop that way with the cake and icing mixed together in a perfect ratio!

Tia, I eat them your way. The frosting is too sweet to eat by itself, and the cake is usually too dry to eat without the frosting. I've tried the sandwich method (after seeing one of those "life hacks" videos on FB) but the sandwich doesn't fit properly in my mouth. So I lick or bite off some frosting and then bite the bottom.

Yep! I'm with you, MACmama.

#4 - I have to use a fork. Something about squishing my face in the frosting that doesn't appeal to me, and licking off the frosting sometimes results in the whole top landing on the floor.

1. conventional, normal bites (cupcake “as-is”)--I think ICrazyTeach's method of breaking off and then eating the stump closely followed by eating the top with the icing is normal and conventional.
2. Lick all the frosting off first then eat the cake--even the thought of that is horrifying
3. Make a cupcake “sandwich” (break off the stump part and put it in top so the frosting is in the middle)--hmm, intriguing. Perhaps I need a cupcake or 7 to test out this method
4. Something totally different--scarf it down in one huge gulp like a snake Or eating a cupcake with a fork, hmm, perhaps.

If the cupcake had too much icing, I might use the stump of the cupcake to smear off some of the icing so I could have icing on the bottom stumpy part. Perhaps if no one was looking, I might use my baby finger to take off some of the excess icing on top and add it to the stump and then lick my finger but that might be horrifying to some people.

I usually eat the top half with the frosting and leave the bottom half. I like my frosting more than the actual cake.

When I'm at school or out in public I eat a cupcake daintily with a fork.

When I'm home more like the two-year-old in this picture.
