Fall Break is Over

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Last week, the mom of my violent non verbal autistic boy basically said we were picking on him and thats why hes acting out. She said he never acts like that at home or at ABA, which I call BS on. She asked if were doing basic ABA principles. We are, but were not ABA therapists. Were public school employees doing the best we can.

Im going to flood the market with my resume in March with the hopes of getting back into gen ed. I have PreK-3rd, so Ill have this kid (and his mom) for two more years. At least in gen ed, you stick it out for a year and then youre done.

Anxiety and depression are always active to some extent, but when the days start getting shorter it really amps up.

And we had to shell out $525 for a new hot water heater today.

Add all those things to the fact that Fall Break is over, and Im having a big pity party here about to spiral downward into the black hole of anxiety and depression.

I have an OttLite on my desk which helps at this time of year. Also, up your Vitamin D and get outside during the day on the weekends.

Hope you feel better.

When it rains, it pours. Sorry about the difficult student and parent. It is a shame that we are the whipping boys for their problems, especially when we are working as hard as we can.

I never got a fall break when I was working. We had two days in November around Veterans Day and then on to Thanksgiving. I hope you are closed for at least one day between then so you can have some more personal time.

You are entitled to your pity party, and I hope you land a gen. ed. job.

Universal code for "The world at home revolves around him."

I second sunshine, vitamin D, and the Serenity Prayer.

Good luck with the resumes!
