Anyone else see the comment the BB contestant made about "faking to be a kindergarten teacher"- Know it was just a sound bite but she said I want the other contestants to think I am naive and play with kids all day instead of working on 3 degrees. Sometimes I do "shake my head" when I think of how the "outside world" sees the job especially primary teachers do each day.
I was going to post about this! I do not teach K but know how hard K teachers work and all that is expected in that grade. Good grief people are ignorant!
That comment irritated me also! I don't understand why contestants lie about their occupation (and why do they always pretend to be teachers??). It's just going to come back and bite them in the butt in the end.
"Danielle insulted teachers last night. To think we play all day, are naive, and don't hold multiple degrees is insulting. You lost a viewer last night. She took all the enjoyment out of the show for me."
I was kind of wondering if Danielle would get sent home last night over Jodi. (just my opinion) I sometimes think now people (married or not) want to keep the "eye candy" around. Where else can you keep "eye candy" around but in the Big Brother house. (Hey they're human) I do wonder if the kindergarten teacher act will come up anymore in Danielle's game play. ()
Not a slam against Jodi. ( I felt bad for her-last picked 1st evicted-that would probably be me if I ever went into the Big Brother house )
I am not a kindergarten teacher;I teach third, but I know the hard work it takes to be a teacher in any grade. I didn't like what she said. It was insulting, and I bet there is a teacher in her family that will tell her that when she gets out of the house. I guess, I feel you can't get mad at CBS for showing it. It is "reality" tv after all. She said it, she will always be on record as saying it, and it will come back to bite her someday. I think that will be payment enough. Just my opinion.

I am a kindergarten teacher, and when I heard that comment I looked at my husband and said, "Really? I'm naive and play all day?" He said that by looking at her you could tell she's dumb as a rock and had no idea what teachers do all day. And by the way, I have 3 degrees...
I'm not a kinder teacher, but it irritated me to all get out! My wife and son both looked over at me and started laughing at my reaction!
But, as another poster stated, I don't see me not watching the show. It's not like CBS told her to say this. The show isn't 100% scripted and CBS has no control over what their players say. They had to show the comment as it is part of her game play. I am not annoyed with CBS, I am irritated with the degree holding nurse and all her ignorance on what it takes to be a teacher!
The Kindergarten teacher deception didn't work in last season's Amazing Race, so we'll see how long it works here. And...isn't her mentor Dan and isn't he a teacher? If they do any kind of "shop talk" she'll be found out easily.
I've watched BB since day one and the narcissistic personality that most of the players come in with still amazes me. The entitled attitude that they can lie and backstab and do anything they like, but how dare anyone else do the same thing! My favorite players have been those who were clear that this was a game and not a popularity contest. Probably why Rachel was always so annoying to me. Always liked Dan, though. Should be an interesting summer!
UGH! It was definitely frustrating and annoying that she said that! I don't know why people think a teacher's job is so easy and anyone off the street could fill in with no problems at all. It takes a very special type of teacher to teach K (not me! that's for sure), and that BB contestant wouldn't last an hour!
Wow, I don't watch the show, but I thought that most people realized how hard a job Kindergarten teacheres have! Goes to show that there are a lot of ignorant people out there!
In my opinion, kindergarten teachers should be paid the highest salary because they work the hardest and have the VERY important job of getting their students off to a good start.
I just saw it and I am so angry that people really think Kindergarten Teachers just "play" with children. I am a Kindergarten teacher and am also currently obtaining my Master's Degree. Kindergarten teachers are one of the hardest working teachers, adapting the children to Kindergarten is a very difficult job, as well as preparing the appropriate lesson plans. I bet she couldn't last a day in our shoes.

Why do many people think so little of us teachers? I was SO insulted by her comment last night. What, you can't have more than one degree to teach? I'm not sure what the certification requirement is in each of the states, but here in CT you have to hold a Masters degree within in certain amount of time.
As soon as she said it, I wondered what K teacher plays all day? They took away play time a long time ago. It helps explain why kids can't get along, they never were socialized.
Anyway, I guess all she really does is give out drinks and fluffs pillows NOT!
