I am a first year teacher. I just finished my first full week (year round school) with my first graders, and I just LOVE them. This is such a joyful, exciting, fun age to teach! I can't wait to see how much they will grow over the next year! I feel very blessed to have gotten my dream grade level for my very first job. The funny thing is, a year ago I would have listed first grade as one of my last choices - I was scared they would be too little for me...but it turns out I LOVE this grade level!!

Anyone else here just LOVE first grade?

I am starting my 22nd year teaching first grade. I absolutely love teaching this grade level. It's amazing how fast they grow as a learner and a person. Enjoy your year!!

Over 25 years in first and I am still amazed at their growth and love their enthusiasm!

I love first grade too! I had the same feeling you did about first graders, but once I got them, I LOVE them! Unfortunately, I will be a split with mostly 2nd graders this year. Oh well! Second graders are great too!

I have been teaching 1st Grade for 9 years!!! I love it! They are so loving and give the best hugs and are so eager to please!!!

When I was in grade one (as a student) I decided that I wanted to be a grade one teacher. Fast forward many years later and I got a kindergarten job. I was freaked out of that grade level but I grew to love it. Then I moved up to grade one (after 6 years of K) and I KNOW grade one is the year for me. I love it. It's challenging, but so fulfilling!!!

I've taught k, 2, and remedial reading-but it's my 20+ years in first grade that I love the best!

... the grade you are teaching! It makes the year so much more fun and rewarding for the kids, and makes your job not always feel like a job! I am starting my 6th year in first grade after 7 years in 3rd and 4 years in 2nd ... I LOVE first grade, too!

I'm starting my 22nd year of first grade this year. The kids are so excited about learning and it always amazes me at how much they grow and change from September to June.

I LOVE FIRST GRADE! I is the unconditional love they have for me that is amazing! They do grow in leaps and bounds and that is so fun to see too. What is really fun is looping up with those first graders as they turn into second graders...now that is amazing. I start the second year and we all know and care about each other, plus all the rules and rigamarole are out of the way and off we go into a new year.

So excited to be going back to 1st grade after 8 years in 2nd ( and 7 years in the middle raising kids...) Feel like I'm going home to my happy place!
