Apparently my 3rd graders, who live in northern IL, have never seen snow before. I know, I'm as shocked as you all.

I know the feeling, except it was 6th graders in Idaho where 3 feet is common.

My 5th graders in Ohio have never seen rain or snow apparently. But then again sharpening a pencil can be a 20 minute adventure. Not to mention the mystical properties of the drinking fountains. And the magnetic draw of the urinals.

Somehow they are completely unaffected by equivalent fractions.

I'm in Alaska. But many of my students are from Samoa, Vietnam, or other SE Asian or Polynesian countries. So I can understand that.

But even my native kids don't seem to get the idea that ice is slippery!

Central IL, you’d think snow was discovered this morning.

I love Taylor Mali. When ever I need a pick me up I watch “What Teachers Make” (hmm...maybe I’ll go watch it now). It always reminds me why I love teaching.
