Showing math work virtually

Life was easy when we did our first math unit on place value, since students just had to type their answers. Now we are on multi-digit addition and subtraction and I need to see their work.

Iíve been having them take pictures and Iíve had students forget to attach a picture, pictures that are too tiny to read, etc.

Is there a better way? Iíve heard of Kami, but I hesitate to try a new program. How hard is it for students to use and do they have to install it on their computers? Any other possibilities?

Do you have Google? Jamboard is great for showing work on math problems.

Kami is nice, but there are a lot of options in the menu and is visually distracting, I think. The price isn't bad ($99 for a class) and gives you good options for adding assignments straight to GC and is easier to save plus gives you more use of the Kami features. We just purchased it for the entire school to help make things easier for students and teachers.

Also, Goformative is fantastic. Itís mostly free. A few features are paid for, but I donít think theyíre vital. Check it out. Itís super user friendly.

I gave them the small whiteboards to use at home. They do the work and hold it up. My district subscribed to Kami. I use that to submit pages or they take a pic of the page they worked on. Itís not easy to check work on a computer after teaching virtually all day.
