Google Meet Question

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I have a co-teacher who is having issues with google meets. Many times a student has been the one in control. The student is muting other students and removing people From the meet.
I told her that I think they reason is because the student is getting into the meet first.
What is the best way to start a google meet?
Any suggestions are welcome.

I think that whoever has admin control of the settings needs to fix it so your students can not start meets.

We use the meets from google classrooms for most things. Our specials teachers use a nickname. Students can not start meets and cannot get in before teachers, which is in the admin controls (our district manages-I have no idea where or what they look like)

Thank you. It blows my mind that the admin hasn’t fixed this setting issue.

Our district does!the same thing as kahluablast’s district. Additionally, she ness to make sure all of the students have left the meeting before she closes it. If not, they call allow other students to rejoin and interact without adult supervision. I give everyone a 1 minute warning then start removing them myself so I don’t have to wait on them.

According to the link above you can turn “Quick Access” off to force that the host must join first. Looks like you can find Host Controls under Settings.

You can create a nickname and students can’t join until you start the meet.
