Nervous about our cat....

Earlier this year one of our cats was run over. My heart is just starting to heal from it. This was a cat we raised from a newborn and rescued from a dumpster. It was a hard loss.

Our other cat was adopted from the shelter as an adult. They told us she was about 10 years old (I seriously doubt she was that old). We have had her now for about 15 years. She is a beautiful long haired cat who was always feral as f#(k. With age she has mellowed. With covid she actually became semi tame. She refuses to enter our house (itís not haunted, she just hates my dogs) so she spends most of her time on our lanai (where the dogs canít go). With covid, the lanai became my new office and she spent everyday with me. Yesterday morning as I was getting ready to go to work she kept meowing nonstop at me. She had food, she had water....she really acted like she wanted ME. I am normally not a softy, but something made me text my boss to see if I could work from home. She said it was okay and I spent my day on the lanai with the cat. We really didnít interact much, just hung out while I did my work.

Today, I havenít seen her at all. This is not normal. I have been on the lanai all day and she hasnít shown up. My gut is saying that she went off to die and yesterday was goodbye. My heart is saying it really isnít ready for another loss. I seriously can not imagine the pain of losing a close family member when the loss of pets is so unbearable (so far I have been pretty lucky in that respect).

Thanks for listening to my long ramble. Hopefully Iíll see her in the morning.

I hope she returns to you. I realize this is a different situation, but we have a family of ferals that we feed and provide outdoor shelter. At any given time one or two of them disappear for a day or two. Some even for a week before they return. Like I said, your situation is different, but maybe.....

Fingers crossed she comes back! I understand your worry.

She showed up this morning! I am so relieved and happy she came back. She is actually much prettier than this, but she doesnít pose for pictures.

This was not the first time Iíve mourned for her. She took off into the jungle (literal jungle) when we were moving from our old house. She lived in the jungle for three months- she finally came out the last day my husband went up to our old house after it sold. She was just skin and bones.
