If you are going to try the RI hot dog, just know that most Rhode Islanders don't consider the word wiener interchangeable with hot dog. The wiener is not only smaller, it is a different proportional mixture of pork and veal. And if you buy a wiener (aka "RI hot dog" in the article), you most likely will buy it from a small restaurant that has the words New York system in its name or advertising.

They are very good.

Fun!

My absolute favorites are the New York style and Chicago style. I went to both places to have them and they were amazing. Growing up, I didn't even like hot dogs, so that's saying a lot! I'd eat liver n' onions before hotdogs.

I didn't realize the New York style had onions cooked in ketchup. I think I just had sauerkraut and mustard. It was soooo good.

I got the Chicago style loaded and it was so yummy!
