Covid, Halloween, and the Elementary Classroom

Halloween is coming up quickly. What are your schools allowing for Halloween this year? I know many of you are not allowed to celebrate this day on a normal year, but for those of you that do, what are you doing?

In the past we have a classroom party with treats, games, costumes, and a visit to the Haunted Classroom that the high school drama kids set up. We also have a costume parade that goes through the whole school and into all the high school classrooms. Obviously, much of that shouldn't happen this year so I'm looking for ideas to still have a fun afternoon for the students.

We do two half day sessions of 2.5 hours each. We will have the kids wear their costumes and do some Halloween themed activities. No treats, no party, no parade.

Not much. We had been the last hold out- we were the only elementary school in the district still doing a Halloween parade. Our parents get really into it and my P just felt like it wasn't worth it to get rid of it. Until this year.

We are doing a "crazy hair day" instead of costumes, and no parade. No parties either. At least Halloween falls on a Saturday this year. So it won't be as bad as being actually at school on Halloween and not doing anything.

The student at my school will bring costumes to school that can be put on in the classroom fifteen minutes before the party begins.

There will be no food, but games and activities. We will also have a social distanced parade outside, if weather permits. Parents are not allowed to attend.
