Hackers....ugh!!!!

Clip to ScrapBook #1

Since Thursday I have had my Instagram account, which I pretty much never use, hacked, my incoming email( through Spectrum) hacked and forwarded to somebody else's email, my walmart.com account that I haven't used in years hacked, and a fairly new credit card number hacked. My son, who is 25 and hasn't lived at home in years, had his own credit card ( different bank from mine) hacked yesterday. Coincidence? I tend to think it isn't.

I have AVG Antivirus and malware protection on my computer and a scan runs at least weekly. It never seems to find any real threats.

I have no idea how they are getting this information as my passwords are all different. It's very disturbing! I just changed my passwords on several things, added some two-step authorizations, and put a credit freeze at all three credit bureaus.

Meanwhile I guess I'm getting a DVD from walmart.com today called Bad Boys for Life. Is this their message to me?? They also bought some digital gift cards. Ugh !

All my bank accounts where hacked about 2 years ago. The police said they have a device that reads your cards when they walk past you in a store. 😳 I just keep a close eye on all my accounts now.

The stuff they come up with to be dishonest is amazing!
I actually have one of those cards in my wallet that's supposed to prevent that, and so does my son.

I am sorry that happened to you.

Noooo! I'm always paranoid about this kind of stuff! I keep meaning to buy an RFID blocking wallet for my credit cards.
I never connect to public wifi either.

How awful? Do you think it could have been someone who knows you or your son?

No I don't. When the Instagram thing happened on Thursday it said there had been a sign into my account from Ho Chi Minh City! Then a little later from somewhere in Thailand. I couldn't figure out what could be the possible benefit of hacking into someone's little-used Instagram account

They got my email address from that account. I'm not sure how they've been able to get into my stuff since everything has a password and they're all different, but I think it's all connected.

All in blocking envelopes! Not taking chances. I also do not keep passwords on my iPad!

Getting a new wallet!

I have heard that they can somehow swipe your card with readers on the machine or when you walk past. Thanks for the head's up. I guess I need to upgrade my wallet and not carry a bunch of cards with me. (Who am I kidding? Not even sure some have any credit left, but I have no one to blame but myself.) Anyway, I wonder what is next?

Enjoy the DVD Hope it all gets resolved.
