Scientific Method

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I just posted this on the math/science board, but I'm really struggling so I figured I'd post it here too :-)

I teach science for one hour, twice a week. We are currently studying the scientific method (make observations, ask questions, research, make a hypothesis, plan and conduct an experiment, record and analyze the data, communicate your conclusion). We do interactive science notebooks and they get a participation grade for doing their notebooks (I use an informal assessment to grade reflections, but they do not get points for correct/incorrect responses...only participation). However, I'm required to take at least 3 grades for each subject weekly. I'm looking for some worksheets or homework activities students can do. Last year I found a cut and past scientific method worksheet, but now I can't find it anywhere! I'm not looking for something to give them just for the sake of getting 3 grades. I want it to be effective. Most of my students are unable to do experiments or get help from family at home. Any suggestions?

Instead of looking for premade worksheets, can't you type your own to review things you have already studied in class?

I type up my own sheets often.

You will find two word searches, one crossword puzzle, a poem, a rap and a picture observation challenge for the scientific method. I tried to attach for you, but it is too large a file.

I used the Rap from the site from the previous poster with my struggling readers. They were being pulled out during our Science time for interventions so we practiced the Science lessons during fluency time. They LOVED this rap.
