Does anyone have an engaging activity to reinforce using transitions words (first, then, after that, etc.) in writing?

making a sandwich. I had the ingredients available and asked the students to tell me what to do. First put a piece of bread on the plate. Next take a spoon full of jelly and spread it on the bread. Then spread a spoonful of peanut butter on the bread. After that, put a second piece of bread on top of the peanut butter. Finally, cut the sandwich in half and eat it.

You could do the same thing after building a block tower, doing a craft etc. I also had them make a graphic organizer to help them keep the sequence in mind.

was going to say what rana said--but have the students each teach something--if you don't have time for that, have 3 large groups being taught or many smaller ones...
