Warriner's Grammar lessons?

Does anyone use the Warriner's Grammar textbooks to teach grammar? We were given class sets for each grade level--but we just have the textbooks--no workbooks, no lesson plans outside of the teacher's guide.

I think the information in these books is top-notch, but I'm just not sure how to use it effectively for 6th or 7th graders. Any ideas?

I've used and loved that text, but never had workbooks. It's great about explaining the skill and giving examples. I would put the first few exercises on the Smartboard and let the students tell me how and why to complete the work. Next, they would work in pairs to complete the next few sentences and then self check with answers on screen after a certain number of minutes. Finally, the homework was to incorporate the new skill in a paragraph. Paragraphs were put under the document camera the following day so they could share their work and explain their reasoning.
The skills build in a logical manner, so as the class masters each skill, that skill is then added to their essay revision check list.
