How do you grade for Language Arts and spelling? They are both combined for one letter grade in our district. We have been giving a weekly spelling test and a weekly LA test. Looking for ways to get other grades and suggestions.

I also use a homework grade for turning in weekly reader/logs along with comprehension worksheet. (I use Wonders or Saxon readers).

And, I occasionally send home seasonal projects (All about Me posters, Fact Family Posters, 100th day collections, etc.) and these are included in this grade as an incentive to complete it.

Hope this helps!

I include the weekly tests and homework completion. I also include spelling and reading comprehension class work that's completed independently.

Phonics and comprehension tests. For LA I use writing assessments.
