Clip to ScrapBook #1

Hi, I am looking for some tasks to share with my kids for when they finish their literacy work early. They already use newsela, and epic, and a news website when they are done with their reading tasks - I like tasks that actually involve reading, not just games. Are there any other great websites out there that encourage reading, I don't mind the odd game, but hate when they spend their whole time on games. And if I give them games, they will choose those over anything else. We use chromebooks in the classroom.

How about having them create stories using storyboardthat or something similar? Or using some digital forms for them to fill out on self selected books. You could have a book review "club" where students write and video their book review. They could post it on a padlet or put it on youtube and create a QR code that you could put in the book or on the wall.

Great ideas thanks. I haven't heard of storyboardthat, I'll look into it.

I know you said no gabes, but here, typing is very important, because students are tested in third grade. Id see typing as a low key test prep activity, and there are sites that help with technology manipulation, too, such as click/drag, copy/paste, drop down menus, etc.
