Sharing Book Questions
Old 11-10-2008, 07:20 AM

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I was wondering if anyone is interested in starting a thread where we would post comprehension questions that we have written about chapter books. It is very time consuming to write all the questions and I figure why reinvent the wheel. I have a few packets that I am willing to post in my files and was wondering if others were interested. I will post one of mine now and another too. Then we will see how it goes.
I will post more if there is an interest.

I've opened and read the questions, and I agree, they are great. Thank you for sharing.....BUT.....am I missing something? Both sets of questions begin with "What were the two deadly wordss that the teacher has been saying?" Help! I'm not sure I understand what that means.

I just did this book last weekend and it did take a long time. This is such a wonderful idea.

I took our state test and modeled the questions from that.

Do you use class sets of all of these books?

diehla---You asked:
Quote:
Do you use class sets of all of these books?
I'm not sure what you mean, but if you mean "Do I give each student in the class the same book to read at the same time?" the answer is 'yes.'

If you mean "Do I use class sets of all of the Magic Tree House books?" the answer is 'no!'

We read the same book as a whole class when we do a large assessment like those attached here. We read leveled books in our Guided Reading groups.

Others may do it differently than I do, that is just what works well for me!

Yes, I meant if you give each student the book you are reading. We are working on getting more book sets right now instead of a new basal reader.

Another question: I would like to do guided reading groups. What do you base them off of (fountas and pinnell)? Do you do a whole group reading at the same time as you have guided reading books going?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

This was extremely helpful! A parent of a student asked for comprehension questions by chapter, and this came to my rescue as the teacher. Thanks!
