Cheap Date & Social Distancing

DH took me on the cheapest date ever last night. We made a thermos of hot chocolate (with a little butterscotch schnapps added) and went for a drive down by the river. We found a quiet place to park away from any homes. NO! It's not what you think! We covered up with a blanket and opened the windows. The stars were bright and the landscape was lit up from the full moon reflecting off the snow. We could clearly see the deer in the field and hear the coyotes' yips and howls coming from the river banks. It was peaceful. We sat out there for about half an hour just relaxing. Exactly what was needed after a long week.

Feel free to share your cheap date stories.

In the last year, these are some dates we've had:

We have a pool table, so we'll make bar food for dinner, turn up our fave music, and shoot pool. Loser does the dishes. It's usually DH.

We went to our somewhat nearby zoo that was doing "drive thru zoo" for $20 a carload. Not cheap cheap, but pretty well priced.

Several times we've driven to a park with a picnic meal, or even a drive thru stop on the way, and eat outside or in the car.

I even got him to do crafty stuff with me once or twice. Who knew he could tie such a great bow?

Your date sounds great! Our standing lunch date is Chik-fil-a drive thru. We eat in the car in the parking lot.

One of my favorite dates was when we took a picnic lunch to the forest preserves and sat at a picnic table and played cards all afternoon. We could have done that at home, but it was so much nicer at that picnic table.

that sounds lovely!

some recent cheap "dates":

finally broke out the cornhole set-up I bought DH 1.5 years ago and had a "tournament"--actually one in the AM and one in the PM.

have gone on a few walks--one longer one to a park we hadn't been to in ages so that was fun.

Sounds wonderful!

We ordered take-out (but could've made our own to make it cheaper), and took it down to the beach. The weather was gorgeous (70's). Then took a walk after.
