April of 2008. (The date you joined shows up just below your avatar if you're on a computer.) PT was way different then - much more sharing of ideas and materials. Definitely pre TPT!
I've been here since 2006. I took breaks of several years, off and on. I would come back to read posts now and then, but I came back on a more regular basis and started posting again when Covid was starting up.
June 2006; not many posts but lots of important ideas, etc from everyone here. My go to place and now that I am retired more time to answer. Love this place!
July 2006 was my actual first post when I was brand new to elementary teaching, but I’ve changed my name since then. I can’t believe it has been that long!
Tia!! I was hoping someone prior to 2005 would show up. You beat that by a few years! In fact, look—you’re just days (okay, just over two weeks) away from your 20th anniversary here!
I think I found PT in 2005, but I didn’t officially join for a long time.
So many people and so many years! It’s hard to believe.
I joined in as soon as I had a decent internet connection in 1999. I've had a number of usernames since then. I still remember Gina (from Texas maybe?), and Elaine from Kentucky, Cathy-Dee, Sharon from Canada, who married and added her husband's name to her username, Susan, Amanda and many others...
I read the posts everyday but don't post much as you can see
I’ve only been here since 2014 (probably seems longer to old-timers because I talk too much). I began for the teaching advice and now I’m here for my social life; now that I live alone, you have no idea how much I appreciate you all (even the ones who hate me). I look forward to PT every day—sincere thanks!
Dec 2005 for me. I do remember finding this site my first year teaching though, I had a really different boy and was looking for ways to help him. That would have been on 2000 I believe. I dont remember the message boards then though. I think they were added later. I agree, it used to be very different. I was always using things people had shared. Now, it is nice to read about everyone else's schools though. Sometimes, it makes my problems seem much smaller. I dont post often but I read here almost everyday.
I’ve been here since my first year of teaching since 1999. The boards changed and I remember getting in early and choosing my user name. My profile says 2005.
August 2006 here! I remember I joined because I was so nervous about going back to teach after having my daughter and was going to a new grade level. So much sharing back then. It was amazing.
I joined in April 2008, but had been lurking before that.
I found PT in 2005 while searching for resources for an African-American History class that I was taking. We were writing a unit to be used with second graders.

Reason: correct a date
Great find, dutchgirl! I miss Phil. Used to chat with him all the time (miss some of my other fellow chatters- especially because chat no longer works at all due to running on flash )
I found this and read regularly, posted sometimes in 2006 summer when I went back to teaching after having 3 babies. I wrote under "GraceK." I signed up a year later, so my start date looks like July 2007.
I used to post a lot more than I do these days (and I still post a fair amount, obviously )
2012 here. I remember when I first came here quite well. I had just moved to the city and was nervous about teaching in an "inner city" school, so that was my first post. Unfortunately the year ended up being awful, not for the reasons you'd think. Most of the students were fine, but I had a horrible nutcase admin. I lived on the "vent" board that year and got lots of good advice!
It was really so lucky I happened upon this place. Posting what was going on in my school/with my P and getting so many responses telling me it was NOT normal or okay saved my sanity. Especially since I was a newer teacher at the time, and in a new position/location, it helped me understand that I wasn't the problem!
