In my state, they are supposed to schedule the second dose before you leave, but I have heard of people who have had problems, mostly through the drug stores. Congratulations on finding your second appointment.
Yay! I'm surprised you had to schedule it yourself, though. For us they make the appt with you there for your 2nd vaccine. They want to make sure you are able to get back! I went today for my 2nd and it was pretty empty with lots of people sitting at empty tables, but there's so many people who can't get an appt.
I am surprised that they didn’t have you schedule your second vaccine when you received your first dose. Not sure where you live but it sounds very disorganized.
When I received my first dose on Friday, they automatically gave me the date and time for my second dose.
I guess it is handled differently depending on where you live.
Read this for a reason a second dose might not have been scheduled at the time of the first dose.
The person I know that is having difficulty finding a second dose was given her first dose off the waiting list to use up extra doses at a second dose clinic. Because of that she wasn't given an appt for another dose, but given numbers to call to get one. All of her calls have been to no avail.
Hooray for you, but I’m with the others: we have to scramble to get dose #1, but then dose #2 is automatically scheduled when we get dose #1. I applaud you for wading through the morass TWICE.
The city/county health department where I got my first dose sent me an email about 10 days after. I followed the link to schedule my second dose exactly 28 days after the first (I'd gotten the Moderna).
Not quite like scheduling at the time of first shot, but easy and organized.
Congrats- that must be a relief! If I could schedule a first dose, I'm told the second would be scheduled at that time. Just can't get scheduled for the first and I'm over it.
I stayed in my car the entire time. Everyone wore a mask. People checked my forms first. Then next stop I was asked if I had any questions or concerns. Next stop got my shot while still sitting in my car. I received my vaccine card. Then they marked my time as I had to wait 15 minutes before leaving. Next they offered information about the vaccine and a support system resource through texting. Then I waited a few more minutes and was told I could go.
But I do wish they had let me make my second appointment while I was there. That is how it worked for my sister.
I live in central Texas. It is very disorganized in my county but Coryell County where I received my shot has their act together.
The first shot for me was a fluke - a be there kind of thing...after weeks of countless hours and futile attempts online.
The second dose appears to be a lottery. As of March 5 it will be three weeks after my first dose. I will keep you posted.
It’s a lot of stress compounded with just having starting Medicare/Social Security and the baloney that goes with those phone calls and paper work, my amazing father-in-law passing away at age 94, on the same day of his death my daughter telling me that she’s moving to Florida within three week’s time (A plane flight away), trying to find in-home care for my mother-in-law who has dementia, etc. I’m about to burst!
Good for you! Luckily ours was scheduled exactly one month after the first (Moderna) and appointment was automatically made for us. I'm happy to see many more of us getting lucky
I am happy you were able to schedule it.
Everyone that receives the first vaccine gets their second appointment too. I guess every state is different in handling the vaccine.
