My first classroom project of the summer that is! Like hundreds of other teachers around the country, I bought and finished my very own Teacher's Toolbox! Mine is a different style that most of the ones I have seen done, it was only a couple dollars more and had lots more drawers, so my hubby convinced me to get it. A few of the drawers are blank. I thought of a few more things to put in them and will be adding those labels soon. I am adding mints, gum, meds, and super glue. I got those ideas from a blog last night....well, all but the super glue. I thought of that one when I was working on it this morning. I love it and can't wait to fill it up and see it in my classroom!
I am working on mine and am curious. How do you get the paper to stay? Are you using double sided tape? I don't do "themes" per se since I teach High School so I have decided to go with our school colors. Orange, White and Silver accents.
I got my box at Lowes. I went with the intention of getting the smaller one, but this one was only $2 or $3 more, so I went with it. It was blue and I spray painted it white. For puzzlemom, I used scotch tape on mine. I didn't want to use double-sided tape or mod-podge because I might want to change the labels out eventually. I just put a small piece of scotch tape on the back of each piece...on the sides. I then creased the tape so I could slide the label in without the tape sticking in the wrong place. After I got it positioned where I wanted it, I stuck the tape to the sides of the tray. The tape ends up being in the corners, half on the paper and half on the sides of the tray. I know I probably just confused you. If you need me to, I could take a couple pictures and put them on so you can see what I mean. I only used scotch brand tape because it always comes off clean. Good luck.....and thanks for the kind words!
What did you use to decorate? Is that mac tac or shelf lining paper or ..? So much variety. It looks fabulous. So jealous. Have bought two 3 drawer larger wheeled boxes. Still in the thinking stages. Well another trip to the $$ store. LVE IT
I used scrapbook paper. Michael's had the pads of small 6x6 inch scrapbook paper on sale the day I went in to look for some. I used 9 different colors/designs and it took less that one sheet of each to make all of them. Mine has 9 large drawers which is why I chose 9 different colors/designs, and 30 small drawers. You could use anything though....I have wrapping paper, paint sample cards, computer paper, anything really. Good luck! It was really quick and easy once I got started.... Thanks again everyone....you all are so sweet!
Looks great! I will be doing that project also. I just finished my first project. I made reader's notebooks and used scrapbook coverings for the covers. They look great!
Have you posted pics of your reader's notebooks? I would love to see them. I am thinking about doing my science interactive notebooks so I can use up a lot of my old scrapbook paper...
