Hi all,
I am going to be starting my first full year of teaching and it's in first grade. I have had experience in second, and fifth grade in the past. I am looking for any and all kinds of advice for the first day/week of school esp. getting my classroom management down and the rules established.

Has anyone ever done Friday folders for first grade? If so, what did you include in them?

What are some cheap websites to buy things for the classroom?

Any other advice or ideas for setting up the classroom would be great.

I also have a lot of space in the room to decorate any ideas on that would be great too.

Hi, I have been in first grade for a while now. As far as supplies or cheep ways to get things. Watch the Staples, Target, Walmart, and Office Depot ads. Your going to want to have colors and color words up, numbers and number words. I have a number line up. It helps with math a lot. Your going to want to do groups and centers. Puzzles make a great math center, CDs with stories make a great reading center, big books, etc.

We do Thursday Folders. I put in any notices from the office. I also put their work in it from the week so parents can see what they are doing.

I am not sure about websites for buying things, but pinterest is a good place to get ideas and find things you can print off. It is free.

This is my first year teaching full time and it's first grade also, teachgirl09! Good luck to you~ I know how much work it takes to make a room look great (haven't been able to get into my room yet!! Not until next week) and how much anxiety and excitement there is!
