At the end of the year my P did a major turn around and decided she had it out for me. Did some things to me that made me really doubt my teaching ability. Just got my state tests today and I had the highest percent passage in the building and probably the district.
Congratulations! I'm very happy for you. I, too, have a ridiculing principal but evidence of achievement. It is new for me to not be appreciated and it hurts. But, in the end, a principal is just one opinion. And there is much more power in the success of a student, the appreciation of a parent, the personal satisfaction of knowing you/I/we went the extra mile or God saying, "Well done, faithful servant." I've been telling my students to not empower others to push their buttons and have been trying to practice it in my own professional life.
I am jealous that you are able to put your P's opinions behind you.

That's me too I don't get it either because I don't talk back or criticize her etc. I have NO parent complaints at all, even the "difficult" students' parents agree with me.
Wouldn't it be nice if the P's of the world would leave us the ____ alone & let us do our job?

to you as well. I don't know what is up with some P's, but I really feel like they should be tarred and feathered and run out of town for doing things like that to teachers.
Apparently you ARE a wonderful teacher, so what the P says doesn't matter. Let it roll off.
You should be feeling good. And if any administrator (or anyone for that matter) gets you down, just reflect on those scores. They are the proof that you are an awesome educator.
I had a principal who was a defensive person. She came in after a much beloved principal had retired and I think that weighed on her.
During the 2nd year (she was only here 2) on my last observation, I came home and hubby asked how I did. I replied, "If she could find ANYTHING wrong, then she's obviously looking for something, because everything went great during the lesson." Now, I'm not by nature egotistical and I welcome constructive criticism and help whenever I can. I also try to read and stay current on teaching methodologies. When I met with her I sat there and it was going great and I was like, "Wow, it's actually happening." But....then her last portion of the observation came and she said, "But..... your room is a little cluttered." She then explained that when I grouped the kids into two groups rather than sitting at their desks in their groups it would have been nicer if they'd had more room. Yes I do have a lot of stuff... but honestly the lesson called them to be at their desks.
I have since learned that administration come and go, most often where the money is, but a lot of teachers stay. And unfortunately, there is the underlying idea (which I don't agree with) that you must ALWAYS find something wrong for a person to work on. Can you imagine if we did that to our students who get everything 100% on a test?
And there is always this.... your P may have been feeling some pressure about their job for some reason, and transferring their insecurity onto you...
Be prepared that your principal may try to attribute your students' success to anything but you. Maybe you were given a good batch of students. Maybe it was really the work of the teacher they had before you. Your P may wish to credit your success to anything but you because to give you credit would be contrary to your P's criticisms. In other words, your P may want to credit anything else just to save face.
Don't buy it. Your students' success is your success. Don't let your P take that away from you.
