year long bulletin board

Clip to ScrapBook #1

We have a lot of bulletin boards on our floor. Each teacher has one and then each grade shares one. Over the past few years many teachers have gotten lazy about changing the bulletin boards. Another teacher and I get tired of looking at leaves in January so we change it. Now, no one else is keeping up with them. The two of us were thinking of doing a bulletin board that could last a long time. Any ideas?

Can you make a board that celebrates awesome work? maybe put a clothesline on it and allow teachers to add awesome work if they want. otherwise, you can have students add their own work and all you have to do is make sure you hand back anything that comes off.

Photo Board?

We had a photo board in our hall one year with pictures of kids and teachers involved in different activities at school. You just have to make sure you are only posting pictures of kids whose parents have given photo permission.

Postcard Exchange

I signed up this year for a postcard exchange. My board will have a United States map. I am also using part of a Peanuts bulletin board set I bought with Snoopy and a Mailbox. It is a Christmas set. I plan to color in or pin states as we receive that postcard.

Have a monthly/bimonthly theme for the bulletin boards? Have like little contests? Something fun to encourage everyone to work on their own board? Students would have fun helping I'm sure!

I've seen bulletin boards or hallway displays of a "Timeline of Our Year." So you make the timeline and add in the months and then add pictures to it as the year goes on. That seems easy to keep up with since you wouldn't have to change out all of the pictures each season. If you wanted you could add a description of the events ("Kindergarteners celebrated the 100th day of school by bringing in 100 objects."
