Students Writing Letters of Recommendation

My professor strongly suggested to have students write letters of recommendation towards the end of student teaching. It'll be cute and something funny to read/share.

Anyone have any resources for writing letters of recommendation they can share?

TIA!

I have my students write letters of recommendation for every student teacher I have ever had. They are fabulous. First, I teach the business format for letters (they send for research on a county project they do).

Then, we brainstorm a list of the specific things that they could write proving that their student teacher would be a great teacher. Emphasis on specific.

Nwxt, I let show them a copy of the one I have written for them (but you can use various models). Then, they write a draft. I make copies of all of them and create a binder with them, including mine as well.

We just did it a couple of weeks ago, and my student teacher is planning to include several of these in her portfolio...they are that good!

I have no suggestions, but what a great idea!

I have a couple of letters from kids in a second grade class; I've subbed for their cohort pretty regularly since they were in kindergarten. I've been wondering whether it would be kosher to put them in my portfolio; it's good to hear that others do that! ("Dear Ms. Grav_def, I LOVE haveing you as a substatute...." )

I've never heard of this before; however, I love it. I'll keep this in mind in case I ever get a student teacher.
