Calcifications

I had my annual mammo last week and got the call today to come back for another one with a sonogram. The nurse said they saw calcifications. I had them 16 years ago and they had to do a biopsy to know for sure if they were cancer. (They werenít.)

Iím sure everything will be fine in the end, but I am in NJ now, and will be going down to SC in a month to get ready for another school year. I hope I can get all squared away- all my doctors are here in NJ, although Iím sure I can get plenty of referrals down south if needed.

Send good thoughts- maybe the sonogram will be all I need. I go faithfully every year for my checkups. Sigh.....

I have had so many callbacks that I kind of just got used to it. Once they asked me if I wanted a 3-D mammo I said yes. Never been called back since! At first insurance didn't cover it, but I didn't care. Bi think I paid an extra $39. Might ask if they have that option where you get yours done.

Prayers that this is just a hassle and you'll be heading back to SC with a clear mind & clean bill of health!

I just made my follow up appointment for July 16th. They will give results that day. I appreciate your good thoughts. I will try to put it out of my mind until then- easier said than done!

Glad you will have an answer before very long. I have been through this and still have calcifications. Ultrasound can pick up on very tiny specks now. I agree with keeping a check on it and getting 3d mammograms.

Just got back. Radiologist thinks the calcifications are the same ones that were biopsied in 2007. Just to make sure they aren’t changing I will go back in 6 months for a recheck.

Phew! I’m grateful to have doctors who are careful with my health!
