Getting started with writers' notebooks

Been teaching a few years now, and I have decided to for-go teaching grammar the old-fashioned way. I want to incorporate writer's notebooks into class and I am unsure of how/where to start. I am also concerned about how incorporate grammar into the WN. I have read a number of great books this summer such as Mechanically Inclined and Writer's Notebooks by Ralph Fletecher, but they have great ideas, but not really starting ideas.

I second that recommendation. You might be interested in her book on Reader's Notebook as well titled Notebook Connections.
