I have trouble with the trays, too. To get the part of your tooth by the gums white, some squishes against the gums. That can really irritate the gums. It hurts, and an area of my gum turned white! My husband uses those bleach strips and they work for him. I might try those, too.

I use the best crest white strips on my dentists recommendation. He said the results are very similar to the dental trays. I have been very pleased with results. Much whiter. But not too white...that just looks weird. I do it 2 times a year.

I tried them and had some issues, too. I liked the Crest white strips better. After you get the results you like, my dentist has me use charcoal toothpaste to maintain the whiteness. It sounds crazy because your teeth and mouth turn black, but the results are very good. I use the charcoal a few times a week. Itís not harsh but you do need to use a separate toothbrush and clean out your sink after.

I also use the crest strips, and then a charcoal toothpaste to maintain. I use that one once a day and a crest whitening toothpaste the rest of the day. Iíve been pleased with the results - much brighter teeth but not unnaturally white.

3monkeys, I got mine from amazon for around $10. Itís actual toothpaste - some are a powder but I think that would be messier.

I had the trays made at the dentist and spent $500 and then switched to Crest Whitestrips. I got better results with less sensitivity.
