My SS class is studying the American Revolution, and I like to have them present information about the war (before, during, and after) in the form of a newscast. Has anyone done anything like this or have any suggestions re: getting some helpful ideas?
thanks for any/all help!

I didn't have my kids do a newscast, but small groups of them did perform television shows behind a giant, cardboard cut-out I made for them. The shows they designed were a form of a book talk on the Book Club book they'd finished reading.

They had to write scripts, and I encouraged them to use props and sound effects and to make backdrops for their TV program.

If you go to scholastic.com/teachers and put "news videos" in the search box it will give you a page with "campaign news video", click there and see kids interviewing all the pols from 2008-2012. They'll get an idea of what it is like for their own broadcasts.
