Conference

My superintendent is REALLY pushing me to go to an out of town conference after I told her I couldn't go. I am going to another out of town conference in the same month and I really don't like leaving my kids that much. She wanted me to back out of the other conference, which I can't do because I am presenting. I think she basically told my admin. to find a way to get me to go.
I am not tenured so I will end up going to both. It just bothers me that I am being pushed to do something after I said it wouldn't work. I think it is completely unprofessional and inappropriate.

I would tell them that I have a wedding to go to out of town. I can't tell you how many times that has worked for me!

Great idea! That's what I SHOULD have done!! Note to self for next time. I can't say that now because she'll know I'm lying. I had no idea she was going to be so persistent about it.

said you were going to go and act all excited....then 2 days before have some relative kick the bucket.

The majority of my career I was so straight up and honest....and then a teacher told me..."You don't have to call the name of the student that is on the stick you pull." Kinda opened my eyes.

to make you go 2X in 1 month when you have kids at home especially. I am careful to bow out nowadays just by saying: I have plans for that wkend. I always PLAN ( and look forward ) to sleep in and relax on Saturday...... I am sorry they put you in that spot. It is wrong. Hopefully, you'll get tenure soon and feel less pressure to give up your wkends.
