State Test Motivation

Clip to ScrapBook #1

We are having a kick off for our school's state tests. 3rd -5th grades take them. We decided to have the primary grades buddy with each class to provide support. We will do chants, make cards, give small tokens of appreciation...anything to keep the kids motivated!!

Do you have any chants to use?? We take ISATs in Illinois.

How about any cute ideas to give the kids. I had already thought about fruit roll-ups ("You're on a roll.") and cookies (You're one smart cookie). What else could we do. It doesn't have to be food related.

You can give the kids:

a Sprite in a can and say " You CAN ace this test"

a Blow Pop - "Blow the top of the test"

Airhead candy - "You are NO AIRHEAD, so you will do great!"

measure tape gum - "You measure up to one smart kid!"

pencil - "You are WRITE on!"

Just some of the things I have done with my kids before. Hope it helps.

State Assessments

We do a pep rally for the assessments--with lots of music and the teachers as the cheerleaders. We put on skits showing the difference between kids who get a good rest and breakfast before testing and those kids who don't. This year, our theme is "Looking Fine in 2009" and we are getting the kids sunglasses to wear. We still have some work to do on the assembly part.
